Dear Texas,
98% of the time, I truly enjoy residing within your great borders. Truly. The abundant sunshine really appeals to my love of the outdoors, and outside of the five months of summer, your weather is generally pretty comfortable.
However, I grew up on the east coast, and I still cannot get used to a fall without vibrant colors in the trees, a scarf around my neck, and warm boots on my feet. It baffles me that temperatures can consistently remain in the 80s well into the late weeks of October, and that the humidity can rival that of a rainforest.
I mean, don't get me wrong. The bright green leaves on the trees do a great job of reminding me that it's May - I mean, October. I absolutely adore walking to class in the humidity and feeling my hair grow with each passing second to the point where it's basically engulfing my face. I love seeing photos of all my friends bundled up in scarves and sweaters while I continue to wear t-shirts and sweat in the muggy warmth, continuously checking my calendar to make sure that I haven't confused the months. It makes me giddy with excitement to see my favorite sweaters collecting dust in the closet because wearing them would mean risking a heat stroke... In October.
Likewise, I'm really digging the idea that there's a chance for some severe thunderstorms, hail, damaging winds, and maybe a tornado in the next day or so. It really looks like you've got this whole "fall weather" thing figured out. Who needs cool temperatures, fall leaves, and seasonal weather anyway? Not you, Texas. Keep on keepin' on!
All my best,
xx
